After visiting Guatemala and experiencing the sub-standard living conditions first hand, we could not get the indelible picture of poverty out of our mind. The government programs to help the poor were, and continue to be, either ineffective, inadequate, or discriminatory.

Volunteering with FHTHC was an excellent chance to go on vacation, have fun and help people in need
I have volunteered with other organizations in Guatemala over the years, but this experience stands out as one of the best.
How do you describe the feeling of giving a family a step up in their life? Of giving them a roof over their heads, and protection from the elements? It was the most amazing feeling. And one I wanted to have again.
