The 8th Annual Guatemalan Open

Dear friends of From Houses to Homes Canada,

Please find on this page the poster for our 8th Annual Guatemalan Open, along with the sponsorship and registration forms. This great event will take place on July 25th at the amazing Whitetail Golf Club.

This year’s tournament will be especially meaningful as we dedicate it to Jack MacDonald, a great friend of the charity and a Board Director since day one. In his honor, we have set aside the week of November 30 to December 4 2026 to build a home in Guatemala that will be dedicated to Jack.

Through this event, we are hoping to raise enough funds not only to build this home, but also to purchase school supplies and travel to remote villages to deliver food and Christmas toys to children before our return to Canada on December 20.

Recent events in countries close to Guatemala have led to an influx of tourists. While this has benefited some businesses, it has also driven up the cost of food, clothing, and other essentials-making food insecurity and access to proper housing even more challenging for many families.

People often ask, “Why Guatemala?” Our answer is simple: it is because of the people. Despite their struggles, they carry themselves with dignity and pride. Guatemala also lacks many of the social safety nets we rely on in Canada, such as food banks, employment insurance, or social assistance. When there is no food, there is simply no food-and we have witnessed this firsthand. Last November, we visited a community that was among the poorest we have ever seen.
